Cannot maintain constant connection to hotspot [rooted]

Just this morning I noticed that I cannot maintain a constant connection for my laptop to my Verizon rooted S5 via hotspot. I opened the hotspot details on the cell and I can see the laptop constantly connecting and disconnecting every second or quicker. I just now started having this issue, but have been able to use this feature for about a month (since I rooted the device). Any ideas on what I can do so my laptop can stay connected to my cell via hotspot?
